Cleaning a wet mop after sweeping the floor is important to keep it fresh and avoid spreading dirt later. Here's a simple way to do it:
Rinse immediately: After you're done mopping, rinse the mop head under warm water to remove dirt and debris.
Use soap or disinfectant: Fill a bucket or sink with warm water and add a bit of dish soap, floor cleaner, or even some vinegar. Swish the mop around in it really well.
Rinse again: Rinse under clean water until all soap and dirt are gone. You want the water coming out of the mop to look clear.
Wring it out: Squeeze out as much water as you can. If your mop has a wringer bucket, use that.
Dry properly: Hang the mop in a well-ventilated spot (preferably outside in the sun) to air-dry completely. This prevents mold and bad smells.
If your mop head is machine washable, you can also toss it into the washing machine on a gentle cycle.
